Tom Trenney

Tom Trenney is a pastoral musician serving as Minister of Music to First-Plymouth Church in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he leads four adult choirs, accompanies the congregation in worship, and preaches. First-Plymouth’s choirs have been featured at conventions of the Nebraska Music Educators Association and the Nebraska, North Central, and National American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Eastman School of Music, Tom has performed recitals, taught workshops, and led festival choirs at regional and national gatherings of the ACDA, Choristers Guild, Presbyterian Association of Musicians, Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts, National Pastoral Musicians, Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, Calvin Institute of Worship, American Guild of Organists, and the Organ Historical Society.

Tom is grateful to continue to serve as conductor of sounding light — a Michigan-based chamber choir he founded in 2003. In 2017, two of Tom’s choirs were honored to sing at the national convention of the ACDA in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His organ and choral recordings are featured regularly on public radio, and his choral compositions are published by Augsburg Fortress, Galaxy Music/ E. C. Schirmer Music, G. Schirmer, MorningStar Music, MusicSpoke, and Pavane Publishing.
