Robert Sieving

Robert Sieving (b. 1942) is a Minneapolis-based composer and arranger following a career as a high school choral music educator. In addition to his choral pieces he is also active as a composer and arranger of works for string orchestra. He is a past president of American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) of Minnesota and a recipient of the ACDA of Minnesota Conductor of the Year Award and the Plymouth Music Series (now VocalEssence) Award for Creative Programming.

Mr. Sieving’s works are in the active catalogs of Alfred Music Publishing, Mark Foster Music Company, Neil A. Kjos Music Company, Roger Dean Publishing Company, Santa Barbara Music Publishers, Boosey & Hawkes, and Tempo Press. A number of notable Minnesota choral ensembles premiering or performing works by Robert Sieving include The Singers – Minnesota Choral Artists, St. Olaf College Manitou Singers, Minnesota Boy Choir, Minnesota All-State Women’s Choir, Saint John’s Boys’ Choir, Choral Arts Ensemble of Rochester and Concordia College’s Cantabile and Chapel Choir. He has twice won the annual “Welcome Christmas!” carol competition sponsored by VocalEssence. 

Mr. Sieving is married to orchestral teacher and conductor, Barbara Flooding, and makes his home in Minnetonka, Minnesota.
