Iryna Aleksiychuk

Iryna Aleksiychuk is a composer, pianist, and organist, who serves as the Associate Professor of Composition at the National Academy of Music of Ukraine. As a laureate of multiple international competitions and National Creative Awards, she is recognized as an Honored Art Worker of Ukraine and a member of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine. She and her husband, Yurri Kot, perform as a piano duo at concerts in Ukraine, Europe, and America. Among her works are symphonic, choral, chamber vocal, and instrumental pieces, which have gained success among performers and listeners in many countries around the world.

Iryna’s works are widely sought after and have been commissioned by a multitude of musical groups and individual performers. With performances of her music, various choirs have received multiple special prizes and Grand Prix at international choral competitions for works of modern authors.

In addition to music, Iryna has an extremely wide range of interests. She is a multiple award-winning dancer of Eastern European, European and World Irish Solo Dance Championships; also professionally engaged in the fields of coffee, physiognomy, graphology, psychosomatics of diseases, colors, and food. Iryan also enjoys creating true masterpieces in the form of mandalas and dream catchers.

• ‘Glory to Ukraine’ (2022) ~ solemn fanfare for brass band.

• ‘Go Where the Wind Takes You…’ (2023) ~ for symphony orchestra (after reading a poem by Olena Stepanenko) commissioned by Classical Movements for the Taki-Alsop Conducting Fellowship, as part of the Eric Daniel Helms New Music Program; 18’00 min. The premiere performances should take place during the 2024-2025 season by 10 leading philharmonic symphony orchestras in the world, including London, Prague, Vienna, Chicago, and others.

• ‘Come, Holy Spirit’ (2023) ~ on canonical text for mixed SSAATB a cappella choir commissioned by Singakademie Dresden, conductor – Michael Käppler, as a musical commentary on the motet BWV 226 “Der Geist hilft uns’rer Schwachheit auf” by JS Bach; 8’00 min.

• ‘Stabat Mater’ (2024) ~ cantata for soloists and mixed SSSAAAATTTBBB choir a cappella to the texts of the Roman Catholic hymn by Jacopone da Todi. The author of the Ukrainian translation is Anatoly Olykh. Commissioned by “Art Renaissance Initiative by Michel Sarda & Scott Youngs” for “Art Renaissance Singers”, Foenix, Arizona, USA; 35’00 min. The premiere of the work should take place in December 2024 at the inauguration of Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral (France).

• ‘My Kyiv’ (2024) ~ arrangement of a song by Igor Shamo based on a poem by Dmytro Lutsenko for a male vocal quartet accompanied by a piano. Commissioned by the Bilbao Mapa Mundi.
