An incredibly well-crafted patriotic piece that honors those who have sacrificed for our freedoms. The text is a poem from a survivor that pays tribute while being uplifting. The choral writing is careful and gracious. The piccolo offers an appropriately complementary sonority, as do the occasional handbells. Bringing in the military hymn, “Eternal Father, Strong to Save” is a crowning touch. High school, college and community choirs will find this piece most useful for many reasons. Medium in difficulty.
