This piece is one of a set of four titles from “Songs of the World” Collection #1. This is a French folk song which portrays the timeless determination and desire of young people for fun, often against their parent’s wishes. The English subtitle is “Papa says, ‘No!’” The irony of this arrangement is that it would be difficult (perhaps impossible) to dance to this piece due to the changing meters. But it remains a thrill and joy to sing.
