The poem by Edna St. Vincent Millay expresses an appreciation for life, for its simple pleasures of nature and civilization. Dickau’s writing provides a distinctive piano part and intriguing vocal writing, for which he is well-known. The spirit of the piece is upbeat, positive and fine craftsmanship. An excellent festival and concert piece. Medium in difficulty.
