Description
The text is a poem by Elgar’s wife, Alice, describing a winter Christmas scene in England, but the essence of the text is how love brings us together. Elgar originally wrote it for SA voices, 2 violins and piano, and this edition can be sung that way. Elgar added the lower voice parts later and an optional viola and cello part is offered. This is a tender holiday concert opener, rich in Edwardian musical colors from Elgar’s pen.
