CCDA Series The California Choral Directors Association is proud to offer this distinguished choral series that will include music generated from CCDA activities.
First of all, the CCDA/George Heussenstamm Choral Composition Competition at ECCO is an annual contest that invites California composers to submit manuscripts which are judged by three CCDA members. The winners of the competition receive a free trip to ECCO and have their piece presented to, and sung by, the conference attendees. They also get the option of having their piece considered for this series. The competition which began in 2016 is funded for a total of twelve years by the generous donation of retired teacher/composer/author George Heussenstamm. (www.GeorgeHeussenstamm.com)
Secondly, CCDA is proud to commission top-level composers, on an annual basis, to write new music for our honor choirs. These composers are also offered the opportunity to be considered for our series. We are proud to create these unique opportunities for composers from around the country to collaborate with our amazing honor choir singers and our excellent guest conductors.
CCDA is proud to "lead the way" in creating new music for our profession, and in giving opportunities for new and professional composers to continue to develop their craft.
