Dr. Ronald Kean is Chair of Performing Arts and Director of Choral Activities at Bakersfield College in Bakersfield, California.   He is a former President of ACDA Western Division following six years as Repertoire and Standards Chair for Ethnic and Multicultural Perspectives at state, division, and national levels.  His teaching opportunities include world music, which he has taught for the past sixteen years, and he continues to study west-African and Latin percussion.  Ron was recently selected to be the California Music Educators Association Multicultural Educator of the Year.

 

The Bakersfield College Chamber Singers under his direction have performed at state, division, and national ACDA conventions.  He is frequently called upon to adjudicate festivals, lecture, and to conduct workshops and honor choirs in the US and abroad. 

 

Pavane Music Publishers features both the Ron Kean Choral Series and Multicultural Choral Series.   His compositions and arrangements are widely performed throughout the United States and abroad.

It is a praise song from the Yoruba people of Nigeria, West Africa, based on the arrangement made popular by the African American vocal group, Sweet Honey in the Rock. Dr. Kean is the ACDA Chair for Multicultural music and a recognized pioneer in the field. It has already become a popular festival piece for Junior High through Adult voices.
