The text was found on a basement wall in Cologne after WWII, and embodies the strength of optimism we grasp at ties of despair. Dedicated to the Katrina victims, Jonathan Adams has created a moving musical setting. In close harmonies he produces a melody that rises with the poem. Equally effective for church or school.

MY SUN AND STARS (Pavane Publishing)
Composer: Jonathan Adams Author/Lyricist: Sara Teasdale

Voicing: SATB
Season: General Released: January 2007

Much of the poetry of Sara Teasdale has been set to music. Jonathan Adams' music fits well with her poetry: gentle dissonances that resolve eloquently with depth and satisfaction. As with much of her poetry, the reader is pleasantly surprised to discover at half way through the piece that this is a love poem. Adams matches the music artfully. Great for high school and college.
